This paper deals with the study of the main properties of the vector bundle \(M_V\) obtained as the kernel of the evaluation map \(V\otimes\mathcal{O}_X\rightarrow \mathcal{L}\) for \((X,\mathcal{L})\) a polarized smooth variety and \(V\) a basepoint-free linear system \(V\subset H^0(X,\mathcal{L}).\) \(M_V\) is usually called a syzygy bundle and it has been the object of an intense research in relation with many central topics in algebraic geometry, as it can be, for instance, properties \((N_p)\) as they were defined by M. Green. In this paper, the authors focus on the stability properties of \(M_V\). In particular, they show that, when \(M_V\) is \(\mathcal{L}\)-stable, \([M_V]\) represents a smooth point in the corresponding moduli space \(\mathcal{M}\) and they compute the dimension of \(\mathcal{M}\) at this point. On the other hand, they address a question posed by Brenner about the stability of \(M_V\) for \(V\) generic enough and they answer it for a large number of polarizations on the product of projective spaces.
