Let \(E\) be a real Banach space and \(T:E\rightarrow E\) be a self-mapping that possesses at least one fixed point, that is, Fix\(\,(T)=\{x\in E: x=Tx\}\neq \emptyset\). Consider a fixed point iterative scheme \(\{x_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) defined by \(x_{n+1}=f(T,\alpha_n,x_n)\), where \(x_1\in E\) and \(\{\alpha_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) is a nonnegative real sequence in \([0,1]\), such that \(\{x_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) converges to \(p\in \text{Fix}\,(T)\). Let \(\{y_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) be any sequence in \(E\) and \(\{\varepsilon_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) be the sequence given by \(\varepsilon_n=\left\|y_{n+1}-f(T,\alpha_n,y_n)\right\|\). The fixed point iteration \(\{x_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) is said to be (1) \(T\)-stable if \[ \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} \varepsilon_n = 0 \text{ implies } \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} y_n = p; \] (2) almost \(T\)-stable if \[ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \varepsilon_n < \infty \text{ implies} \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} y_n = p; \] (3) weakly \(T\)-stable if \[ \varepsilon_n=\varepsilon'_n+\varepsilon''_n \text{ with }\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \varepsilon'_n < \infty \text{ and } \varepsilon''_n=o(\alpha_n) \text{ implies } \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} y_n = p. \] The main aim of this paper is to prove the weak \(T\)-stability of Mann and Ishikawa iterative sequences (with errors) in the class of \(\Phi\)-hemicontractive mappings without the use of the restrictive condition \(\liminf \Phi(t)/t>0\) used in a previous paper by other authors. Note that all concepts of stability for fixed point iterative procedures could be refined by considering in their definition not just an arbitrary sequence \(\{y_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) but an \textit{approximate} sequence \(\{y_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\), see the reviewer's recent monograph [\textit{V. Berinde}, ``Iterative approximation of fixed points'' (Second Edition: Lecture Notes in Mathematics 1912, Springer, Berlin) (2007; Zbl 1165.47047)].
