In [Algebr. Represent. Theory 17, No. 1, 227--264 (2014; Zbl 1351.16031)], \textit{A. L. Agore} et al. obtained a complete description of the space of Hopf algebra endomorphisms of a bicrossed product of two Hopf algebras, and, in particular, a detailed description of the group \(\mathrm{End}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) of Hopf algebra endomorphisms of the Drinfeld double \(\mathcal{D}(G)\) of the group algebra of a finite group \(G\). The author uses this to establish certain subgroups of the group \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) of Hopf algebra automorphisms of the Drinfeld double \(\mathcal{D}(G)\) of the group algebra of \(G\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. Each two of these subgroups have trivial intersection, and they generate \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) if, and only if, \(G\) is purely non-abelian, that is, \(G\) has no non-trivial abelian direct factors. Two important special cases are the following. If \(G\) has trivial center, then \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) is isomorphic to the semidirect product \(\mathrm{Aut}(G)\ltimes\mathrm{Hom}(G,\widehat{G})\) of the group automorphisms \(\mathrm{Aut}(G)\) of \(G\) and the group homomorphisms \(\mathrm{Hom}(G,\widehat{G})\) from \(G\) into its dual \(\widehat{G}\). (The latter group can be identified with the group of bicharacters of \(G\).) If \(G\) is perfect, then \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) is isomorphic to the semidirect product \(\mathrm{Aut}(G)\ltimes\mathrm{End}(Z(G))\) of the group automorphisms of \(G\) and the group endomorphisms of the center \(Z(G)\) of \(G\). Moreover, the author obtains a description of the action of \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) on the tensor category \(\mathrm{Rep}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) of modules over \(\mathcal{D}(G)\). This would be helpful in reducing the number of simple modules to be considered when computing the higher Frobenius-Schur indicators of \(\mathrm{Rep}(\mathcal{D}(G))\). In [J. Algebra 411, 191--214 (2014; Zbl 1354.18008)] \textit{D. Nikshych} and \textit{B. Riepel} considered certain braided auto-equivalences of \(\mathrm{Rep}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) by lifting tensor auto-equivalences of the category of \(G\)-graded vector spaces. The author observes that these auto-equivalences can also be obtained from the subgroup \(\mathrm{Aut}(G)\ltimes\mathrm{Hom}(G,\widehat{G})\) of \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{D}(G))\) as monoidal functors, but that there exist bicharacters of \(G\) that do not appear in any of the auto-equivalences considered by Nikshych and Riepel [loc. cit.].
