The paper deals with Archimedian polyhedra viewed as abstract polytopes. Earlier \textit{M. I. Hartley} discussed a method for representing any abstract polytope as a quotient of regular polytopes, see [Discrete Comput. Geom. 21, No.~2, 289--298 (1999; Zbl 0927.52017)]. Now the authors present an application of this method to the Archimedian polyhedra. Representations of the 14 sporadic Archimedian polyhedra (13 classical Archimedian polyhedra and the pseudorhombicuboctahedron) as quotients of regular abstract polyhedra are obtained. Moreover it is analyzed which of polyhedra in question have well-defined Petrie duals [cf. \textit{G. Williams}, Can. J. Math. 57, No.~4, 844--870 (2005; Zbl 1085.52007)].
