The big variety of different extensions of classes of absolutely summing linear operators to the multilinear and polynomial setting has brought on to consider several tools to determine the adequacy of these new classes, as the notion of coherence, compatibility and holomorphy types. In this paper, the multilinear notions of mixing summing operators and absolutely \((p;q;r)\)-summing multilinear operators are revisited using a multiple approach in the sense of \textit{M. C. Matos} [Collect. Math. 54, No. 2, 111--136 (2003; Zbl 1078.46031)] and \textit{D. Pérez-García} and \textit{I. Villanueva} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 285, No. 1, 86--96 (2003; Zbl 1044.46037)]. The main motivation is that the former definitions of these classes do not satisfy coherence or compatibility, whereas the multiple one does, as it is shown. The reader will enjoy reading this informative paper, where a rich panorama of the subject can be found.
