In this second paper of the series [for part I, see \textit{M. Müger}, ibid. 81--157 (2003; Zbl 1033.18002)], the author studies the dimension of the centre of certain monoidal categories. He gives conditions ensuring that weakly monoidal Morita equivalent monoidal categories have equivalent centres, and ensuring that the centre has dimension equal to the square of the dimension of the original monoidal category. Results of \textit{P. Etingof} and \textit{S. Gelaki} [Math. Res. Lett. 5, 191--197 (1998; Zbl 0907.16016)] and \textit{S. Gelfand} and \textit{D. Kazhdan} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 6, 268--300 (1996; Zbl 0870.57017)] are generalized and cast in the context of monoidal categories.
