The authors study the joint distribution of the solutions \((g, h)\) to the equation \(g.h = x\) in \(G (\mathbb{F}_{p})\) as \(p\rightarrow \infty\), for any fixed \(x \in G (\mathbb{Z})\), where \(G=\mathrm{GL}_{n}, \mathrm{SL}_{n}, \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}\) or \(\mathrm{SO}^{\pm}_{n}\). The main theorems contain uniform distribution results with (good) error terms. The proofs are based on exponential sum estimates, the Erdős-Turán-Koksma inequality, \textit{P. Deligne}'s extension of the Weil conjectures on a sheaf on \(G\) [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 52, 137--252 (1980; Zbl 0456.14014)] and on a theorem of \textit{É. Fouvry} [Isr. J. Math. 120, Part A, 81--96 (2000; Zbl 1010.11045)], \textit{N. M. Katz} and \textit{G. Laumon} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 62, 145--202 (1985; Zbl 0603.14015)].
