Let \(F(t,z)=(\alpha t,p(z)+q(t))\), where \(0<\alpha<1\) and \(p\) and \(q\) are polynomials. The main result of the paper under review is the following (here \(\{t=t_0\}\) is written for a fiber of \(t_0\)). Theorem 1.2. There exist a triple \((\alpha,p,q)\) and a vertical holomorphic disk \(D\subset \{t=t_0\}\) whose forward orbit accumulates at a point \((0,z_0)\), where \(z_0\) is a repelling fixed point in the Julia set of \(p\). For a general polynomial skew-product \(F(t,z)=(f(t),g(t,z))=(f(t),g_t(z))\), consider \(t_0\) such that \(f(t_0)=t_0\). When \(f'(t_0)=0\), \textit{K. Lilov} [Fatou theory in two dimensions. Ann Arbor, MI: University of Michigan (PhD Thesis) (2004)] has shown that for \(t_1\) in the immediate basin of attraction of \(t_0\) and an open disk \(D\) in the \(t_1\)-fiber, the forward orbit of \(D\) must intersect one of the fattened Fatou components of \(g_{t_0}\). When \(f'(t_0)=1\), \textit{M. Astorg} et al. [``A two-dimensional polynomial mapping with a wandering Fatou component'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1411.1188}] have constructed examples in which wandering Fatou components can exist. Note that whether wandering Fatou components can arise in the attracting case remains open. | |||
