The authors present some applications of the mould calculus in the theory of Birkhoff normal forms and quantum perturbation theory. Particularly, the classical and quantum normal forms are analyzed in a unified way, and a precise estimation of the difference between them is obtained. Mould calculus contains powerful tools useful in the description of the local dynamics. The authors use an abstract operational formulation able to include both classical and quantum dynamics. This formulation leads to mould resolutions of problems where a perturbation is added to an explicitly solvable problem. The mould expansions are done on objects related to the involved perturbation with coefficients dependent only on the unperturbed problem.
