Classifying nilpotent Lie algebras according to properties of the Schur multiplier has a robust history. The present paper is of this type. Let \(L\) be a nilpotent Lie algebra of dimension \(n\) and let \(M(L)\) be the Schur multiplier of \(L\). Define \[ s(L)=(1/2)(n-1)(n-2)+1-\dim(M(L)). \] The algebras with \(s(L)=0,1,2,3\) have all been classified by the second author and collaborators. In this paper, the classification extends to \(s(L)=4\). They find eight algebras in this class.
