The author [J. Math. Sci., New York 83, 731-744 (1997); translation from Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 212, 71-90 (1994; Zbl 0870.11055), Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 224, 129-145 (1995; see Zbl 0898.11018 above)] obtained the spectral decomposition of the convolutions over the vertices \(\alpha=0\) and \(\alpha= \infty\) of the fundamental domain of the congruence subgroup \(\Gamma_{0}(q)\), if \(q\) is a prime and \(\equiv 1\pmod 4\). The present paper compares these two spectral decompositions. But first it introduces a new pair of convolutions and proves that they may be reduced to the earlier discussed ones to within regular summands. The paper also discusses the connection of the problem to the Gauss-Hasse hypothesis with \(n=1\).
