The decomposition numbers of the symplectic group \(\text{SP}(4,q)\), \(q=p^n\), \(p\) prime, in characteristic other than \(p\) are determined by \textit{D. L. White} [in J. Algebra 132, No. 2, 488-500 (1990; Zbl 0705.20010); ibid. 177, No. 1, 264-276 (1995; Zbl 0845.20008)]. But in the case the characteristic divides \(q+1\) one ambiguity arises concerning the principal block. In a previous paper [J. Algebra 186, No. 1, 105-112 (1996; Zbl 0867.20015)]\ the second author removed this ambiguity by imposing some conditions on the structure of \(\text{SP}(4,q)\). In the paper under review the authors determine the above mentioned ambiguity completely.
