Descent identities, Hessenberg varieties, and the Weil conjectures (Q1304633): Difference between revisions

The paper applies the Weil conjectures (now theorems) to the Hessenberg varieties to obtain combinatorial information about descents of permutations over the symmetric group. Elegant proofs to identities involving Eulerian polynomials are obtained.
