The paper considers the nonlinear matrix equation \(X^s + A^{*}X^{-t} A = Q\), where \(A\) is a complex \(n \times n\) matrix, \(A^{*}\) is its conjugate transpose, and \(Q\) is a Hermitian positive definite matrix. The authors consider three cases to study a necessary and/or a sufficient condition for the existence of Hermitian positive definite solutions to the equation. In the case when \(s, t > 0\), a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a Hermitian positive definite solution to the equation is given; whereas in the cases when \(s \geq 1\), \(0 < t \leq 0\) and \(0 < s \leq 1\), \(t \geq 1\), a necessary condition for the existence of such a solution to the equation is given.
