The author investigates the first eigenvalues of geometric operators under the Yamabe flow. Let $(M, g_0)$ be a closed Riemannian manifold of dimension $n\geq 3$. When $g_0$ has negative scalar curvature the author estimates the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian of $g_0$ in terms of the Yamabe metric in its conformal class. The main tool used in the proof is the Yamabe flow. Moreover, the author uses some ideas from \textit{J.-Y. Wu} et al. [Ann. Global Anal. Geom. 38, No. 1, 27--55 (2010; Zbl 1201.53077)]. He also shows the monotonicity of the first eigenvalue of certain geometric operators on a closed Riemannian manifold along the unnormalized Yamabe flow under suitable curvature assumption, which extends earlier works of \textit{X. Cao} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 136, No. 11, 4075--4078 (2008; Zbl 1166.58007)] and \textit{X. Cao} et al. [Math. Ann. 354, No. 2, 451--463 (2012; Zbl 1252.53075)] in the case of dimension 2. Finally he gets similar results for manifolds with boundary and for CR manifolds.
