The author investigates trace expansions of operators of the form \[ A\eta (tL), \] defined on a compact manifold \(M\). Here \(A\) and \(L\) are classical pseudo-differential operators on the manifold \(M\) and \(\eta:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}\) is a Schwartz function. Moreover it is assumed that the operator \(L\) is elliptic. It is shown under certain assumptions, that this trace admits an expansion in powers of \(t\rightarrow 0^+\). The author also relates the constant coefficient to the non-commutative residue and the canonical trace of \(A\). The main result of this paper is the following formula \[ \mathrm{tr}(A\eta (tL)) \sim c_{m+n}t^{-\frac{m+n}{m_0}}+c_{m+n-1}t^{-\frac{m+n-1}{m_0}}+\dots, \] where \(m_0\) is an order of the operator \(L\) and \(m\) is an order of the operator \(A\). If \(m_0\in \mathbb{N}\) and \(m\in \mathbb{C}\setminus-n+N_0)\), with \(Re(m)>n\), then \[ \mathrm{tr}(A\eta (tL))=\eta(0) \mathrm{TR}(A)+\sum_{j=0}^{N-1}c_{m+n-j} t^{-\frac{m+n-j}{m_0}}+o(1), \] where \(\mathrm{TR}(A)\) denotes the canonical trace. The main tool is the continuous inclusion of the functional calculus of \(L\) into the pseudo-differential calculus whose proof relies on the Helffer-Sjöstrand formula.
