The authors introduce a class of pseudodifferential operators depending on a parameter in a particular way. The main application is a complete expansion of the trace of the resolvent of a Dirac-type operator with nonlocal conditions of the kind introduced by \textit{M. F. Atiyah, V. K. Patodi} and \textit{I. M. Singer} [Math. Proc. Cambr. Philos. Soc. 77, 43-69 (1975; Zbl 0297.58008)]. This extends the partial expansion of the first author [Commun. Partial Differ. Equations 17, No. 11/12, 2031-2077 (1992; Zbl 0773.58025)] to a complete one and extends previous work of the authors where restrictive assumptions on the structure of the manifold near the boundary were done [to appear in J. Geom. Anal.]. A secondary application is to obtain a complete expansion of the resolvent of a pseudodifferential operator on a compact manifold. Resolvent expansion yields immediately an expansion of the trace of the heat kernel and determines the singularities of the corresponding zeta function.
