The aim of the present work is to study local and global properties of positive solutions of equations of the type \(-\Delta u={{u}^{p}}|\nabla u{{|}^{q}}\) in \(\Omega \backslash \{0\}\), where \(\Omega \subset {{\mathbb{R}}^{N}}\) is an open domain containing \(0\) and \(p,q\in \mathbb{R}\). In general the authors assume superlinearity of the right-hand side, i.e., \(p+q>1\), \(q\in [0,2]\). Highly nontrivial algebraic manipulations with an intensive use of Young's inequality, allow the authors to prove that the norm of the gradient of a power of the solutions satisfies an elliptic inequality with a superlinear absorption term, which gives the possibility to use the Keller-Osserman comparison method. The authors' main result in this framework is the following: under additional assumptions on \(N,p\) and \(q\), it is proved that any positive solution of the considered equations in \({{\mathbb{R}}^{N}}\) is constant.
