The authors extend their previous work on the singular complement method in two-dimensional problems to the initial-value problem where the initial values of electric and magnetic fields in the neighborhood of a perfectly conducting body, locally of prismatic shape are given. The computational domain is taken to be made up of live parts, are having a perfectly conducting boundary, and the other bears an artificial boundary, allowing re-entrant portions. Variational formulations are developed for the electric field and it is pointed out that similar formulations exist for the magnetic field. Fourier expansions suitable for the fields are produced which, it is suggested, will converge to the solution. The analysis in English is summarized in an abbreviated version in French without any analysis. There are not however any examples of the applicability of the theory.
