The authors introduce and analyse the Fourier singular complement method (FSCM) in prismatic domains as an improved version of their 2D singular complement method. The base of this domain is a 2D general polygonal domain. Accordingly, the solution to the 3D Poisson problem is splitted into a regular part, the edge singularity part and the vertex singularity part. In fact they prove a refined splitting of the solution to the problem using the Fourier expansion with respect to the vertical coordinate. The numerical algorithm which defines the FSCM is carried out and the optimal error estimate, depending on the mesh size applied to the polygonal domain and the number of Fourier modes, is proved.
