The author studies two types of the perturbed elliptic sine-Gordon-type equation \[ -u''(t)+\lambda \sin u(t) = \mu f(u(t)), \tag{1} \] \[ u''(t) + \lambda \sin u(t) = \mu f(u(t)), \tag{2} \] under the conditions \[ u(t)>0 \text{ on } (-T,T), \;u(-T)=u(T)=0. \tag{3} \] Here, \(\lambda, \mu >0\) are parameters, \(T>0\) and \(f\) is supposed to be locally Lipschitz continuous and odd in \(u\). Furthermore, \(f(u)>0\) for \(u>0\). The typical examples of \(f(u)\) are as follows: \[ f(u)=|u|^{p-1}u,\;(p>1), \;f(u)=|u|^{p-1}u+|u|^{q-1}u, \;(p,q>1). \] The purpose of this paper is to establish asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues \(\mu = \mu (\lambda)\) for (1), (3) (theorem 1) and \(\lambda = \lambda (\mu)\) for (2), (3) (theorem 2) as \(\lambda \rightarrow \infty\) and \(\mu \rightarrow \infty\), respectively. The proofs are based on variational methods.
