Let \(H\) be a quasi-Hopf algebra over a commutative ground field. Using results obtained by \textit{D. Bulacu} and \textit{S. Caenepeel} [J. Algebra 266, No. 2, 552-583 (2003; Zbl 1030.16024)] it is shown that quasi-Hopf algebras over a commutative ring \(k\) with trivial Picard group are Frobenius \(k\)-algebras. Next, the author studies (strongly) separable quasi-Hopf algebras. In the last section, using Frobenius coordinate systems, a Radford type formula for the fourth power of the antipode is obtained. Moreover, if \(K\) is a quasi-Hopf subalgebra of \(H\) stable under an antipode of \(H\) is a \(\beta\)-Frobenius extension, this generalizes the result by \textit{D. Fischman, S. Montgomery} and \textit{H.-J. Schneider} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 349, No. 12, 4857-4895 (1997; Zbl 0899.16020)].
