An Hermitian manifold \((M,g,J)\) with fundamental form \(\omega\) is called pluriclosed (or SKT) if \(\partial\overline\partial\omega= 0\). The author proves that if the twistor space of a compact anti-self dual 4-manifold is pluriclosed (or SKT), then it is Kähler. By the result of \textit{N. J. Hitchin} in [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 43, 133--150 (1981; Zbl 0474.14024)], it is biholomorphic to \(\mathbb{C} P^3\) or to the flag space. The methods are complex geometric and are also used to show that the moduli space of rational curves on the twistor space of a K3 surface is Stein.
