The upper Browder spectrum of elements of ordered Banach algebras was introduced by the authors in [``Fredholm theory in ordered Banach algebras'', Quaest. Math. 39, No. 5 (2016; \url{doi:10.2989/16073606.2016.1167134})]. Let \(A\) be an ordered Banach algebra and let \(T: A\rightarrow B\) be a Banach algebra homomorphism. It is assumed that the Banach algebras \(A\) and \(B\) are unital and that \(T\) transforms the unit onto the unit. The upper Browder spectrum of an element \(a\in A\) (relative to \(T\)) is equal to the set \(\beta_T^+(a)=\bigcap\{\sigma(a+c): c\in C\cap\ker T, ac=ca\}\), where \(\sigma(a)\) is the (usual) spectrum of \(a\) and \(C\) denotes the cone of positive elements of \(A\). The Fredholm spectrum of \(a\) (relative to \(T\)) is the spectrum of \(Ta\) in the algebra \(B\). Clearly, we have \(\sigma(Ta)\subset\beta_T^+(a)\subset\sigma(a)\). The authors investigate the following problem: Suppose that the spectral radius of a positive element \(a\) is not in the Fredholm spectrum of \(a\), is it true that it is outside of the upper Browder spectrum of that element? Under some natural assumptions on the algebra \(A\) and the Banach algebra homomorphism \(T\), the authors find conditions on the element \(a\) such that the answer to this question is positive.
