At the present time usage of unfolding operators in homogenization of boundary problems for PDEs in domains with highly oscillating boundaries is studied intensively. The majority of papers in this area are based on two hypotheses. At first, the domain boundary is rough; at second, the oscillation amplitude is \(O(\varepsilon)\), where \(\varepsilon\) is some small parameter. On the contrary, in this article, the unfolding operator is obtained for the domain with smooth boundary which oscillates with amplitude \(O(1)\). Two particular cases are examined where the obtained operator is applied to homogenize the Neumann problem for the Helmholtz equation. In one of the cases the domain is circular symmetric. The properties of an unfolding operator, such as weak convergence of image functions and their derivatives, integrability of the functions and so on, are studied in the paper, too.
