The authors continue the study of (uni)versal deformation rings of finitely generated modules over finite dimensional algebras started in [the reviewer and \textit{J. A. Vélez-Marulanda}, J. Algebra 367, 176--202 (2012; Zbl 1301.16013); J. Algebra 491, 90--140 (2017; Zbl 1406.16008)]. Suppose \(\Lambda\) is a finite dimensional algebra over a field \(k\) and that \(V\) is a non-zero finitely generated Gorenstein-projective left \(\Lambda\)-module. The main result of this paper shows that if the stable endomorphism ring of \(V\) is isomorphic to \(k\) then the versal deformation ring \(R(\Lambda,V)\) of \(V\) is universal, and the same is true for the syzygy \(\Omega(V)\). Moreover, if \(\Lambda\) is Gorenstein and \(\Gamma\) is another finite dimensional Gorenstein \(k\)-algebra such that there are bimodules \({}_\Gamma X_\Lambda\) and \({}_\Gamma Y_\Lambda\) that induce a singular equivalence of Morita type between \(\Lambda\) and \(\Gamma\), then \(X\otimes_\Lambda V\) is a finitely generated Gorenstein-projective left \(\Gamma\)-module and its versal deformation ring is isomorphic to \(R(\Lambda,V)\).
