Let \(R\) be a commutative integral domain and \(K\) its quotient field with \(R\ne K\). A prime ideal \(P\) of \(R\) is called \textit{strongly prime} if, for any \(x,y\in K\setminus P\), \(xy\notin P\). The ring \(R\) is said to be a \textit{pseudo-valuation} domain if each of its prime ideals is strongly prime. It is proven that FFD(\(R\))\(\leq 2\), where FFD(\(R\)) is the finitistic weak dimension of \(R\). More precisely, if \(M\) is the maximal ideal of \(R\), then, if \(M\ne M^2\), FFD(\(R\))\(=1\) and the global weak dimension of \(R\) is infinite, and, if \(M=M^2\), the global weak dimension of \(R\) is \(2\). Those results are implied by results on the finitistic weak dimension of certain pullbacks. Moreover, some necessary and sufficient conditions are given for FFD(\(R\)) to be \(\leq 1\). One of these conditions is that FFD(\(R/(r)\))\(=0\) for each nonzero nonunit \(r\in R\). As a consequence, it is shown that \(R\) is an almost perfect domain if and only if FPD(\(R\))\(\leq 1\), where FPD(\(R\)) is the finitistic projective dimension of \(R\).
