The existence of nonnegative bounded variation solutions for the following 1-Laplace equation \[ -\varepsilon \mathrm{Div} (Du/|Du|)+a(x)u/|u|=h(u) \quad (x\in \mathbb R^N) \] is considered, where \(\varepsilon >0\) is a small parameter, \(N\geq 2\) and \(a:\mathbb R^N\to \mathbb R, \ h:\mathbb R \to \mathbb R\) are functions of class \(C\) satisfying a set of conditions (\(\mathrm{Div}\) denotes the divergence in the distributional sense). A nonsmooth critical point theorem is employed to obtain the result by Mountain Pass Theorem argument (see [\textit{J.-N. Corvellec} et al., Topol. Methods Nonlinear Anal. 1, No. 1, 151--171 (1993; Zbl 0789.58021)]). There are several technical difficulties to overcome. In particular, a small modification of the Palais-Smale condition is presented. Moreover the authors study concentration properties of solutions and a single spike shape of solutions for the parameter \(\varepsilon\) small enough. See [\textit{G. M. Figueiredo} and \textit{M. T. O. Pimenta}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 459, No. 2, 861--878 (2018; Zbl 1382.35114)] for closely related results.
