Exponential decay for the linear KdV with a rough localized damping (Q2233310)

In this paper the authors show the exponential decay of the linear damped KdV equation on the real line, \[\partial_tu+\partial_x^3u+a(x)u=0,\quad u(0,x)=u(x)\in L^2(\mathbb{R}),\] whenever the damping coefficient satisfies some locally integrable assumptions and has a positive lower bound on translates of a set with positive measure. This paper is organized as follows. Section 1, is an introduction to the subject. In Section 2 the authors prove a resolvent estimate inspired by some idea in [\textit{J. Bourgain} et al., J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 15, No. 5, 1597--1628 (2013; Zbl 1279.35016)]. Section 3 is devoted to the proof of the main result.
