Let \(A\) be an Artin algebra. \textit{R. Bautista} et al. [J. Algebra 287, No. 1, 140--168 (2005; Zbl 1128.16011)] defined the category of complexes of fixed size, \(\mathbf{C}_n(\mathrm{proj }A)\) for \(n \geq 2\), as the full subcategory of \(\mathbf{C}^{\mathbf{b}}\pmod A\) whose objects are the complexes \(X =\{(X^i,d^i)\}_{i \in \mathbb{Z}}\) such that \(X^i \in \mathrm{proj } A\) and \(X^i = 0\) if \(i \not\in \{ 1,\ldots, n\}\). That is, Bautista-Souto Salorio-Zuazua [loc. cit.] studied these categories in order to obtain information on the bounded derived category. The authors study which irreducible morphisms in the category of complexes of fixed size \(\mathbf{C}_n(\mathrm{proj }A)\) with \(n \geq 2\) and \(A\) an Artin algebra, are irreducible in \(\mathbf{C}_{[\mathbf{0},\mathbf{n}]}(\mathrm{proj }A)\) or either in \(\mathbf{C}_{n+1}(\mathrm{proj }A)\). They also determine which of them are also irreducible in the bounded derived category.
