An extension of a zeta function is an infinite product of shifted values of that function. This notion is discussed in the first part of the current paper. The authors give a host of examples and formulate a conjecture about a possible functional equation satisfied by such an extension. In a second part of the paper the authors study double sine functions in the framework of zeta extensions.
