Additive decomposability preserving maps between exterior powers of vector spaces

From MaRDI portal

The authors characterize when a map \(\psi:\Lambda^r U \to \Lambda^s V\) is a linear decomposability preserving map. Here, for a positive integer \(r\), \(\Lambda^r U\) is the \(r\)-th exterior power of a vector space \(U\). A multivector in \(\Lambda^r U\) is decomposable if it is of the form \(x_1 \wedge \cdots \wedge x_r\) for some \(x_1, \ldots, x_r \in U\). The authors apply this characterization to deduce a result concerning additive maps on alternate matrices. This last result generalizes a theorem given in [\textit{B. Kuzma}, Linear Multilinear Algebra 53, No. 4, 231--241 (2005; Zbl 1080.15001)].
