Arithmetic applications of the Langlands program
Research exposition (monographs, survey articles) pertaining to number theory (11-02) Representation-theoretic methods; automorphic representations over local and global fields (11F70) Spectral theory; trace formulas (e.g., that of Selberg) (11F72) Galois representations (11F80) Arithmetic aspects of modular and Shimura varieties (11G18) Langlands-Weil conjectures, nonabelian class field theory (11R39) Langlands-Weil conjectures, nonabelian class field theory (11S37)
This is a survey on the Langlands functoriality conjectures and their applications to the arithmetic of representations of Galois groups of number fields. The author considers the stable trace formula, the Fundamental Lemma, endoscopy, Shimura varieties, reciprocity, and the Sato-Tate conjecture for elliptic modular forms, proved by himself and collaborators.
