Bifurcation for a three-component competition system
The authors consider a three-species competition system in a ball with Neumann boundary conditions and analyze the existence of positive radial solutions. The first and second species play a symmetric role in the model, while the third one plays a distinct role, reflected by a different parameter in the growth rate and intraspecific competition.\N\NUsing the competition parameter as the main bifurcation parameter, the authors obtain two families of curves bifurcating locally from the branch of constant solutions.\N\NFurthermore, they show that these local branches can be continued globally by applying Rabinowitz's global bifurcation theory.\N\NFinally, the stability of the obtained solutions is examined, proving that they are unstable in a neighborhood of the bifurcation points.
