Fuzzy identification from a grey box modeling point of view

From MaRDI portal

The paper is a comprehensive study of a broad spectrum of identification procedures discussed in the setting of fuzzy set theory. The identification framework is established by taking into consideration three generic categories of modeling approaches: black, grey, and white modes of modeling. This taxonomy alludes to the amount of domain knowledge available for modeling purposes: white box modeling relies on underlying principles available from physics of the process under modeling while black box modeling hinges exclusively on experimental data available for model building. Some sources of domain knowledge available in advance lead to the concept of grey box modeling. Fuzzy models are discussed from the grey box modeling perspective; the resulting analysis involves a number of key modeling components including architectures of such models and elaborates on the semantics of the developed models. The material is augmented by some numerical experiments. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0874.00030].
