Hypergeometric accelerations with shifted indices

From MaRDI portal

In this paper, a large number of formulas for \(\pi\) and some other interesting irrational numbers are obtained by applying Wilf's acceleration method to the Pochhammer symbols involving \textit{shifted indices}. These formulas can be categorized into \(7\) groups based on their convergence rates. For example, a typical new series of convergence rate \(\frac{1}{4}\) derived in this paper is\N\[\N\frac{2\pi\sqrt{3}}{3}=\sum_{k=0}^{\infty} \big(\tfrac{1}{4}\big)^k \frac{\big(\frac{1}{3}\big)_k}{\big(\frac{7}{6}\big)_k} \frac{9k+7}{(k+1)(3k+2)}.\N\]\NSeveral directions for future research are also discussed in the final section of the paper.
