The author works on four categories; the objects of all of them are locally compact Hausdorff spaces and their morphisms are, respectively, the continuous skeletal maps, the quasi-open perfect maps, the open maps, the open perfect maps. The author obtains some equivalence theorems for these four categories. Also the author establishes a Stone-type duality theorem for the category of compact Hausdorff spaces and open maps. The paper is methodical and meticulous thought has been set to points of historical detail.
