Over a finite field \(F_{q}\) define the norm \(N:F_{q}^{2}\to F_{q}^{2}\) by \(N(a,b):=a^{2}+b^{2}\). Points \(x,y\in F_{q}^{2}\) are said to be of integral distance if \(N(x-y)\) is a square in \(F_{q}\). An integral automorphism is a bijection \(F_{q}^{2}\to F_{q}^{2}\) preserving integral distance. The authors study maximal integral point sets (i.e., each pair of points is integral distance) in \(F_{q}^{2}\) up to integral automorphisms. For \(q\leq 49\) a computer search is performed. Moreover, two series of maximal integral point sets are given (with proofs).
