In the study of groups of Lie type as collineation groups of projective planes, the linear groups of dimension 2 or 3 and the unitary groups of dimension 3 are the important families related to the Desarguesian planes. The unitary family, PSU(3,q), has been studied, among others, by \textit{C. Hering} [Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 49, 155-182 (1979; Zbl 0431.51002)], \textit{A. R. Hoffer} [J. Algebra, 22, 211-218 (1972; Zbl 0244.50022)], \textit{W. Kantor} [Israel J. Math. 16(1973), 351-361 (1974; Zbl 0276.50010), Proc. London Math. Soc., III. Ser. 32, 385-402 (1976; Zbl 0326.20005)], \textit{M. Walker} and \textit{M. Seib} [Arch. Math., 21, 103-112 (1970; Zbl 0193.213)], respectively. The author5)] is easily deduced from Theorem 1. Several corollaries are also given.
