The authors investigate the rate of convergence in Strassen's functional law of the iterated logarithm. For the continuous version of the partial sum process obtained by linearization a moment condition is shown to be necessary and sufficient for the convergence rate being a power \(\beta<2/3\) of \(\log\log n\). In the limiting case (\(\beta=2/3\)) additional conditions on the tail behaviour are required.
