The authors adopt the definitions of fuzzy \(\delta\)-continuity and fuzzy \(\alpha\)-nearly compactness as given by the reviewer and Mashhour et al., respectively; they prove characterization theorems for the said concepts and interlink them by showing that the image \(f(A)\) of a fuzzy \(\alpha\)- nearly compact set \(A\) relative to a fuzzy topological space \(X\) is \(\alpha\)-nearly compact relative to a fuzzy topological space \(Y\) when \(f: X - Y\) is a fuzzy \(\delta\)-continuous function.
