The main focus of the paper under review is the construction of a \(p\)-adic \(L\)-function which interpolates the values of the standard \(L\)-function associated to a cuspidal automorphic representation \(V\) on GL\(_{2n}\), which admits a Shalika model over a totally real field \(F\). The construction of the \(p\)-adic \(L\)-function in this setting has been carried out by \textit{A. Ash} and \textit{D. Ginzburg} in [Invent. Math. 116, No. 1--3, 27--73 (1994; Zbl 0807.11029)] under certain assumptions related to properties of the representation and the field \(F\). The main aim of the paper under review is to relax those assumptions on the representation \(V\) and completely avoid restrictions posed on the \(p\)-class group of the field \(F\) by focusing on local computations inspired by a strategy developed in [\textit{M. Spieß}, Invent. Math. 196, No. 1, 69--138 (2014; Zbl 1392.11027)] related to the construction of the \(p\)-adic \(L\)-function in terms of the local data. This is a very well written, rather technical paper which presents main ideas and results in an intuitive, yet clear and precise way.
