Let \(k\) be a field. Roughly, a subalgebra \(B\) of a finite dimensional \(k\)-algebra \(A\) is said to have finite depth if \(A^{\otimes_B (n+1)}\) and \(A^{\otimes_B n}\) have the same indecomposable direct summands (as bimodules). For Hopf algebras \(R\subset H\), the second author [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 218, No. 2, 367--380 (2014; Zbl 1301.16034)] has shown that the tensor powers of \({}_RH_R\) are isomorphic to smaller tensor powers of \(Q=H/R^+ H\), where \(R^+\) denotes the augmentation ideal of \(R\). Recently, \textit{H. Chen} et al. [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 142, No. 3, 765--775 (2014; Zbl 1309.16021)] determined the Green rings of the Taft algebras \(U_n(q)\). In the paper under review, the authors calculate the quotient module \(Q\) for \(U_n(q)\), where \(q\) is a primitive \(n\)-th root of unity in \(k\). It is proved that \(Q^{\otimes 2}\) contains all indecomposables of \(U_n(q)\). Hence \(Q\) is of depth 2. By a result of [the second author, loc. cit], this gives the minimum even depth of \(U_n(q)\) in its quantum double.
