Moeglin and Tadić classified discrete series representations of \(p\)-adic classical groups, in analogy with Zelevinsky's well-known classification of discrete series representations of \(p\)-adic general linear groups. The case of classical groups is more complicated as there the structure of L-packets is not trivial. The work of Moeglin and Tadić is independent of the endoscopic classification theory of Arthur (and Mok in the unitary case). Arthur's work concerns the structure of L-packets in the cases of classical groups. The paper under review makes more explicit the connection between the theories of Arthur on one hand and Moeglin and Tadić on the other. For that, the results of Moeglin and Tadić are reproved in this paper in the case of quasisplit symplectic and orthogonal groups by using Arthur's language. This gives more natural proof, based on Arthur's canonical work. It also clarifies relations of packets with the module of coinvariants.
