In this paper, the \(K(\cos^m,\cos^n)\) equation is proposed, which extends the Rosenau-Pikovsky \(K(\cos)\) equation to the case of power-law dependence of nonlinearity and dispersion. The properties of compacton and kovaton solutions are numerically studied and compared with solutions of the \(K(2,2)\) and \(K(\cos)\) equations. New types of peak-shaped compactons and kovatons of various amplitudes are found. The goal of this paper is to determine the influence exerted by the type and quantitative relations between the nonlinear and dispersion terms on the shapes of compacton and kovaton solutions of a group of evolution equations, namely, extended Rosenau-Pikovsky and Rosenau-Hyman equations. These extensions follow from developing application models and are also inspired by the development of the theory of differential equations and related areas of numerical simulation. Accordingly, solutions appear that differ from those of the original equations. For example, the compacton solutions differ from the soliton ones of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. The equations cease to be completely integrable, which complicates the search for analytical solutions. In these cases, an effective research tool can be based on numerical methods. For equations supporting solutions with discontinuities derivatives, which is the case of compacton solutions, the stability condition is achieved by taking a number of measures. Specifically, the damping of high-frequency harmonics was used in the numerical spectral Fourier scheme applied in this study. The numerical simulation has shown that the proposed extended Rosenau-Pikovsky equations also have compacton and kovaton solutions, but their shapes are different.
