\textit{Finitary 2-categories} were defined in [\textit{V. Mazorchuk} and \textit{V. Miemietz}, Compos. Math. 147, No. 5, 1519--1545 (2011; Zbl 1232.17015)] as a suitable generalization of finite dimensional algebra. There are two competing generalizations of simple module in this context: \textit{cell 2-representations} in the above quoted paper; and \textit{simple transitive 2-representations} in [\textit{V. Mazorchuk} and \textit{V. Miemietz}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 368, No. 11, 7623--7644 (2016; Zbl 1365.18006)]. In a series of papers, it was proven for many relevant classes of finitary 2-categories that all of their simple transitive 2-representations are equivalent in fact to cell 2-representations. In the paper under review, this statement is proven for a new class of examples. These are 2-categories of projective bimodules over algebras which are defined as certain quotients of quadratic duals of preprojective algebras associated with trees (see [\textit{C. M. Ringel}, in: Algebras and modules II. Eighth international conference on representations of algebras, Geiranger, Norway, August 4--10, 1996. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society. 467--480 (1998; Zbl 0928.16012)]). The proof extends tools in [\textit{V. Mazorchuk} and \textit{X. Zhang}, ``Bimodules over uniformly oriented \(A_n\) quivers with radical square zero'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1703.08377}]. A more general result was obtained independently by completely different methods in [\textit{V. Mazorchuk}, \textit{V. Miemietz} and \textit{X. Zhang}, ``Pyramids and 2-representations'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1705.03174}].
