In the paper under review the author provides evidence towards a conjecture concerning the existence of a spectral sequence from the HOMPTFLY homology \(HH\) and Heegaard-Floer knot homology \(HFK^-\). In the early 2000s, M. Khovanov categorified the Jones polynomial \(V_K\). That is, he defined a bi-graded homology theory \(Kh^{*,*}(K)\) for links whose graded Euler characteristic is a normalisation of \(V_K\). A few years later, \textit{M. Khovanov} and \textit{L. Rozansky} defined a categorification \(KhR_N^{*,*}(K)\) of the \(\mathfrak{sl}_n\)-polynomial \(V^N_K\) [Fundam. Math. 199, No. 1, 1--91 (2008; Zbl 1145.57009)], and \(HH^{*,*,*}(K)\) of the HOMPTFLY polynomial \(P_K\) [Geom. Topol. 12, No. 3, 1387--1425 (2008; Zbl 1146.57018)]. Roughly in the same period \textit{P. Ozsváth} and \textit{Z. Szabó} [Adv. Math. 186, No. 1, 58--116 (2004; Zbl 1062.57019)] (and independently J. Rasmussen in his Ph.D. thesis) defined, with completely different methods, a categorification \(HFK(K)\) of the Alexander polynomial \(\Delta_K\). It is a well-known fact that \(V_K\)(\(=V_K^2\)), \(V_K^N\)s, and \(\Delta_K\), can be obtained as a specialisation of \(P_K(a,q)\in \mathbb{Z}[a^{\pm 1},q^{\pm 1}]\). At the categorified level it is not clear what ``specialising'' means. A possible way to translate the specialisation of variables in the categorified setting is to say that there exists a spectral sequence. Using the similarities between the definitions of \(HH\) and \(KhR_N\), \textit{J. Rasmussen} [Geom. Topol. 19, No. 6, 3031--3104 (2015; Zbl 1419.57027)] proved the existence of such spectral sequences from the HOMPTFLY homology and coverging to the \(\mathfrak{sl}_N\)-homology. The author uses the untwisted cube of resolutions for knot Floer homology by \textit{C. Manolescu} [Quantum Topol. 5, No. 2, 185--223 (2014; Zbl 1305.57016)] (which in turn builds on previous work of \textit{P. Ozsváth} and \textit{Z. Szabó} [J. Topol. 2, No. 4, 865--910 (2009; Zbl 1203.57012)]), and proves that there exists an isomorphism (as bi-graded vector spaces) between the vertices of the cubes of resolutions used to define \(HH\) and \(HFK^-\). Furthermore, using the above-mentioned isomorphism the author also proves that there exists a spectral sequence starting from knot Floer homology and abutting to \(KhR_N\).
