Let \(N\) be a stratified Lie group and \(G\) the semidirect product \(N\rtimes A\) where \(A=\mathbb{R}\) acts on \(N\) via automorphic dilations. The group \(G\) is a solvable extension of \(N\) that is not unimodular and has exponential growth. Let \(\Delta \) be the left-invariant sub-Laplacian on \(G\) defined by a system of vector fields that form a basis of the Lie algebras of \(N\) and \(A\). For all bounded Borel functions \(F:[0, \infty )\rightarrow \mathbb{C}\) the operator \(F(\Delta )\) defined via the spectral theorem is left-invariant. The main result of this long study provides a sufficient condition of Michlin-Hörmander type for operators \(F(\Delta )\) to be bounded on \(L^p(G)\) for \(1<p<\infty \).
