The article refers to a small data Cauchy problem to the damped semilinear wave equation with time dependent variable coefficients and with combined nonlinear terms: \[ \begin{gathered} u_{tt}-\Delta u+ ({\mu}/{(1+t)^{\beta}})u_t= |u_t|^p+|u|^q\text{ in }\mathbb{R}^n\times[0,\infty), \\ u(x,0)=\epsilon f(x),\quad {u_t}(x,0)=\epsilon g(x),\quad x\in \mathbb{R}^n. \end{gathered} \] For $\beta>1$, $\mu>0$, for relatively large $p$ and small $q$, a blow-up result and lifespan estimate are proved.
