Along with the arithmetic and geometric means of two numbers, many other means are considered in analysis. In this paper, the following terminology is used. Let \(I\) be a nonempty open real interval. A function \(M: I^2\to I\) is called a two-variable mean on \(I\) if the following mean value property \[ \min(x,y) \leq M(x,y) \leq \max(x,y)\qquad (x,y\in I) \] holds. If both of the inequalities are strict whenever \(x\neq y\), then \(M\) is called a strict mean on \(I\). Further, let \(M,N,K: I^2\to I\) be three strict means and assume that the invariance equation \[ K(M(x,y),N(x,y)) = K(x,y)\qquad (x,y\in I) \] holds. Then \(K\) is called invariant with respect to the mean-type mapping \((M,N)\). Given two continuous functions \(f,g: I\to \mathbb{R}\) such that \(g\) is nowhere zero on \(I\) and the ratio function \(f/g\) is strictly monotone on \(I\), the weighted two-variable Bajraktarević mean \(B_{f,g}: I^2\times\mathbb{R}_+^2\to I\) is defined by \[ B_{f,g}(x,y;t,s) = \left( \frac{f}{g}\right)^{-1}\left( \frac{tf(x)+sf(y)}{tg(x)+sg(y)}\right)\qquad (x,y\in I; t,s\in\mathbb{R}_+). \] The purpose of this paper is to investigate the invariance of the arithmetic mean with respect to two weighted Bajraktarević means, i.e., to solve the functional equation \[ B_{f,g}(x,y;ts) + B_{h,k}(x,y;s,t) = x+y\qquad (x,y\in I), \] where \(f,g,h,k\) are unknown functions and \(t,s\in\mathbb{R}_+\) are distinct constants.
